Finally a long run :-))
...One could say that there perhaps already has been some kind of long running going on to reach this far - but at the same time its been a lot of short and medium long stages the last 1500km struggeling up through Georgia, South- and North Carolina. But entering the state of Virginia, the spring catching up with me including blooming cherry-trees along the route today - the big cities right up ahead: Washington, Philadelphia, New York; then the energy and inspiration is flowing back to the legs and fueling better distances.
Today the finish point was at 60km and it was a truely enjoyable run all the way, even with the fall at 50km where I displayed all the clumsiness that nearly 34 000 heavy km's (21 000miles) puts in the body - getting both hands and the left knee bloody'. On that note I'll finish for the day as I need to get the hands cleaned properly (w. medical alcohol, a much more painfull exercise than 60km on the nice rolling hills of highway one ;-)
But I'll add a few more impressions and a little note about an upcoming race later when the hands are proper functional again !
NB: If any runners in the Wasthington D.C. area wants to join the run for a long or short streatch they are very welcome !! The plan is
22.March: Start at 10am., at hwy.1 at Ft. Belvour/Mt. Vernon (gps-location at http://www.worldrun.org/Endomondo.php). Finish around 14pm. at Capitol Hill/city centre (White House/Garfield-monument at East end of the park).
Approx. 20miles total.
23.: Start 10:30am. from Capitol Hill/city centre (White House/Garfield-monument at East end of the park). Hwy.1 Northbound out of City. Approx. 20-26miles.
On long term for runners wanting to join a stage - or more :-) the outline is:
25. March: Baltimore.
30. March: Philadelphia.
2-3. April: New York City.
15. April: Boston.
Since the world run is ofcourse continuous there can be some delays as I sometimes need to run a longer way around sections of the highway where runners isnt allowed and this will delay the time I reach the big cities on the route. However I'll have the updates of the progress ready here on worldrun.org as well as the daily gps-data for you to follow as usual :-)
