Back-tracking !

A little bit of a dramatic stage although things are usually very peacefull out here in the desert ! Alex and I lost contact with eachother 5km into the stage and first met up 1.5 hour later. I had run on a new parrallel road which was under construction about 200-500m. West of the old Panamerican highway. Sure that he had seen me running past him at a distance at the ususal 5km "water stop" I proceeded. Only, he hadnt seen me, obviously, and with the hot weather and remote location (see pictures) it fast became a concearn of mine wether I would find back to the supportcar. There is at the moment no longer than around 60km to the next city, Arica, but even that is somewhat long to run without water.

Luckily I ran through a spot w. cellphone coverage and Alex was able to call me up on my phone (which I always runs with in the hand as it records the gps-track I run and is used for documentation pictures every few kms).

We decided a place we could both recognize that I could run to and meet up and it went fine from there.
One of the small desert-dramas solved :-)

NB: The gps hasnt worked properly the last few days ! I am trying to figure out what the problem is. So far it only randomly - if at all - gps-stamps the pictures and the endomondo system doesnt start up at all. Jamie will fly in from Santiago in about 2 days with a new unit since this part of the documentation is crucial and I dont think I can fix the electronics out here in the desert.
