Christmas running calender, day 10:
Another Joy of longdistance running is the Silence ! The silence that comes with the long runs; with for a moment of an hour, 2 hours, 3h... or even a day for the really long runs :-) - to be out of the noice of the modern world. Away from ringing phones, incoming messages on the cpu, the traffic, tv..
The moments, sometimes lasting for weeks, in the world runs when running through deserts (Australian Nullabor in wr1, Syrian-, Jordan-, Sinai-, Sahara & Kenyan deserts in wr2) or over remote mountains (Rocky Mountains in wr1 and Romanian Transsylvanian- & inner Tyrkey mountain chains in wr2) ... Is pure BLISS of Silence :-)
You and the stars above alone !
And at moment such bliss could surely be used as the logistics problems of running through the last part of the African continent, South Africa, seem to tower to a point where it begin not to be possible in the present state (a bit tired by having wresled' a large range of tropical deceases, culture shock's (stonethrowing and the "white man !!" screaming-greeting ;-), 18000km in the legs and 1 1/2y. from last "home"). Could look like its going to be a long running-step untill next bliss - the Andes ?
But I look forward to it :-))
