Christmas running calendar, day 3:

A major thing to enjoy about running is also the Rest :-) One of the cornerstones in a successful trainingscedule (for recreational and elite runners alike!) is to remember once in a while to give the body a chance to recover. Perhaps a trivial fact - but its during the rest/recovery that the body works onlifting\' its capacity to be able to handle yet more challenging efforts on the next training session.

- And as it happens few things are more Enjoyable than the well deserved rest after a hard run !!

Please remember to give the body a chance to \'rest hard\' just as you ask it to Train Strong :-)

... Today Im following that advice to its widest extend (for a day, atleast ;-); resting, reading a good book (Not on running, but on civil war, famine and daily life in Africa to get more inputs along w. the daily running through it, to try understanding this complex continent), taking a nap, taking another nap, and an ultra-short stroll to buy healthy food & drinks to enhance the recovery..

The last part is definately a thing wich I through 26 years of competetive running has made a habit of Neglecting ! ;-) But I have to bow to the fact that when all other seemed to fail in healing the infected/growing wound in the arm, drinking pleanty of fruitjuice & other vitamin C rich nutrition has helped !
And judging from the first 1/2 of the day it quicky does thething of mending\' the arm when in combination w. Rest !

Though my Favorite through all the years remain the combination of rest & chocolate ;-))
