Very nice stage in the open landscape w. low bushes and only a few trees. Long rolling hills non-stop - wich took their part out of the legs ;-)
Curious company by 4 small children running barefoot w. me for a km or two (should be a pic. in the live coverage); and a man who kept asking if I had work for him - but I cant verywell 'outsource' the running.. !
However I can Hope that old and new runners may join along the road and share the run side by side :-) Was so nice to meet in Sweden last week !
But I realize its also 9-11 today !! And naturally my thourghts are also on those who were lost, those who lost and those whostill fear !
In wr1 the route took me near the 'plane down' area in Pennesylvania and along the Ground Zero fence on Manhattan - both a big impression!!
At the same time, after having run through the Middle East and 5 Muslim contries in wr2 - I feel equally for the people there !
When experiensing every step of their part of the world - I cant help but to love also their religion.
Wich is so far from the extremes we see and learn on tv to be "Islam" !
The average people, rich or poor, english speaking or not, have met me with only hospitality and gentle offering of Friendship.
I think it takes only little imagination to think how it hurts them to see a few can change the image of a culture that is Kind to strangers as few Ive experiensed in the world ! (And, when meeting other westerner' travellers I hear the same story from them).
Please overcome your fear and go see for yourselves :-)
I know when huge losses in a conflict, wich has been the case on both 'sides', it can be impossible to understand the 'other side' !!
But I think the day we become able to even accept our opponent in a conflict to be as right as we are - we will have made the next huge step Forward.
As long as we can only see the right in ourselves we will always have long bitter conflicts !
As in Israel & Palestine, as in N. Ireland, as in Tjetnia, as..
But I guess that is forgetting how many conflicts have been solved, and how many times people has seen the human also in their opponent !
(It is ofcourse naive, but imaginethat each person on both sides of for ex. Israel & Palestine picked a friend in the opponent people - So often rethorits imposing 'slogans' or 'claims' appears frighetening to us, but besides words and politics lives people - who are just as right as any other.
Yes, even though a political scientist by education; the more I see of the world and its cultures the more I feel people have the tools to solve conflicts, far more than politics :-))
