Timed the start to macth w. the 9:30 start of Copenhagen marathon up in denmark. It was inspiring to allmost share the run as I know quite a few of the runners taking part ! ..Some running their first marathon, some aiming for a pers. besttime; some just enjoying a good time on a sunday on the streets of Copenhagen :-)
As I paced (somewhat slowly) through the 1200m alt. landscape w. bananapalms and termite 'hills' towering meterhigh next to the small tar road - I imagined running through the city whereI have lived so many years, studying, working, becoming an elite runner, and finally beeing able to live of my sport; but hopefully never 'professional'w all that comes with it, as the love of the sport wich starts it all and wich describes the recreational runner is central to me.
The images of runners sharing the streets, through City, Vesterbro, Nørrebro, Østerbro and back to City' - made me realise how I miss Copenhagen & ... the Joy of racing and competing :-)
My time was not impressive; but my enjoying of the day was Great !
Besides the effect of 13 000km I guess it shows the impact of not doing any pace-training; running at full speed I was 8min. slower than my first marathon in 85' at age 15 ... Yes, I guess I'll never be 'professional' ;-)
