Experimenting !
At the moment my good supply driver Tommy 'the gun' and I are trying to troubleshoot why Im getting more tired than usual the last couple of weeks - surprisingly it seems that getting more fat (preferably chocolate ;-) in the 'diet' is what helps most !!
- in extremerunning you get much more of your energy from fat than on shorter distances where carbohydrates are the main source; an average long dist. runner will allmost only encounter a signifikant fatburning zone when reaching "the wall" on marathon (as ultrarunners/extremerunners its a daily routine ;-) .
Other factors in the increased fatigue could be the altitude of 1500m to 2000m, illness, the bulk of 13000km, the stress of ethiopia or lack of protein inthe food - or in worst case, lack of motivation !
