Sudanese runners :-)

Had excellent company today of two sudanese runners; a 5km/steeplechase runner and a 10km halfmarathon runner. They had decided to run with me on the last desert stage to the outskirts of Khartoum/Omdurman. Both wanted to do 30km wich is long considering that 21km is their maximum distance.

- At the end of the stage they had both run 40km with me :-)

I think this shows the determination & mentality of the Sudan runners. Andno coincidense: last year they won Olympic silver on 800m ! And judging from the talent I have seen it may only be the beginning of a wave of toplevel sudanese longdistance runners !! I ceartainly hope so :-)

.. Indeed its an interesting time to be a runner visiting and running through this contry of friendship (far from the image we see on tv !).
