Getting through..
-Getting through Khartoum w. its bustling markeds; all variations of traffic: "tuk-tuk"s, donkeys, horse carriges, limousines, suv's, police escorts, waving pedestrians and bicycles going opposite direction;
on all sorts of pavement: tar., concrete, sand, dust, metal bridges etc. - that is a great playground for running if you are in the mood for it. And I was today :-)
On my 'maverick run' in the labyrinth of the inner city (wich is caracterised by very little high-rise; yet) I had company by Mohammad and Line who kept cool enough to guide me through the maze withoutany mishaps'. Line even stepping out of the car to share 15km at the hottest part of day. Will come in handy in her preparation for her 1. marathon, I hope :-)
But, getting through Khartoum wasnt the only test today. Reaching the Sudanese media - with the message one wish to represent - can also involve quite a workout. More of a discoursive or constructive effort; but nevertheless:
Since denmark a few years back had a very unlucky 'cultural encounter' via a newspaper cartoon, the relation w. Sudan has been complicated at times. This has not yet been forgotten here in Sudan and it was one of my main reasons for running through this contry; to present my Respect for the religion and to offer a positive meeting through sport.
Luckily it succeded :-)
