Goto: 2009-01-19 2009-01-21 Africa
2009-01-20:Distance today: 36.0 km (Accumulated: 9560.8 km)
Elapsed time: 03:19:47
Country: Africa
Start 09:10am., at 'gas-station 100m' - sign (please see live-gps position for exact loc.) on Suez Gulf road M65, ca. 228km N. of Hugata. 19c, thin clouds and m. wind. Finish 13:17pm., at 'first-aid station 100m' - sign (please see live-gps position for exact loc.) on Suez Gulf road M65, ca. 192km N. of Hugata. 25c, heavy wind and same.
Finally no fever !! :-)
At the same time the energy is returning to the body so the usual 50km average should be possible again; especially w. a strong wind behind me today, helping to make the heavy runningstroller less of a burden to push.
Though... After 3hours scenic run along the empty Suez Gulf road I saw another great sand beach tenting-spot, got tempted, and stopped early :-)
(you canvisit the live-gps for a pic. of that !)
- Yet its not all 'a beach party': since Zaafrana there has been no points where water or food can be bourght. There are occational concrete shelters and 'gas stations' but last 70km they all appear to be closed for the winter (?). I still have food supplies for 2more days and water for 1 day left. But then it begins to be a tiny bit critical.. Plan to make a longer stage tomorrow as I here, around 03am., saw lights further up the coast from outside the tent. Hopefully they mean shops/water and is does show a 'dot' on the map in that direction :-)
