Entering the oilfields !
I have now reached the part of the gulf coast rich in oil & gas fields. Both on- and off shore the towers and rigs stand, rising above the mostly flat horizon w. flames reaching high into the air. (wich at times is thick w naft/gas/oil smell ;-)
But also the usual hassle by Egyptian police. A patrolcar w machingun armed officers stop. Passport, visa, long explanations, phonecalls. "we want tohelp you !" (yes, in wr1 and wr2 this far I have nowhere experiensed more unpleasant 'help'. Ofcourse its more wise to be discrete in these reports - but I value truth more :-)
On the positive side: I found a shop !!! At roadside a dusty desert cafe &truckstop had basic supplies; bisquits, water, juice. So Im set for another day of running.
And.. contrary to the police the people were Great & helpfull (and as far as I could figure gave me a discount onthe else expensive supplies :-)
The tent have been set on a hilltop overlooking the Ras Gharib field and desert mountains. By sunset the flames colour the horizon pink & orange in East, red by the sinking sun in the West :-)
I check my sms & email..: Great messages !! THANK YOU ! And KIITOS SUOMI :-))
