Snow' Surprise !
We had set our tents on a small plateau at 1500m. alt. - and there you must be prepared for a little of all..At 6am. it began to snow after a cold night of down to ca. -7 to -8c. The view at sun-up was amazing; the landscape that yesterday had us wearing shortsnow reminded of Scandinavia at Christmas.. :-)
5cm snow and an icecoating on the strollers. Packing the tent and trying to keep it dry & clean - and preventing it from flying ahead on the stage..
As you can see from the LifePilot pictures we had to clear the start sign of snow before the pic ;-) (We use km-signs or landmarks to ensure that we start the exact same place where we finished the previous stage as well as to provide documentation along w. the gps data).
When we got warmed up and ran into the grey-white snow clouds the road graduately began to descend; first into small mountain villages -where tea and coffe was offered nearly at every stop (Turkish hospitality... :-)) - and further down to a huge river valley that rewarded our effort andcold hands and feet w. some magnifizent views and a warm wind melting the ice on the strollers and drying our wet clothes !
The landscape was perhaps the most impressive since the remote mountainstages in mid. Rumania but this time you'll have to imagine the scenery untill I update the gallery :-)
