1 step fwd, 1 step sideways..
As you can see from the logbook above, nearly half of the short stage was spent stopping orwaiting.
I cant say that this short stage was an easy one, though.
It began at sunrise 7.00am. w. repair of tubes for the running strollers. While oneof them punctured before start as yesterday. In total 2,5hours spent tending to punctures and worn out tires (removing stones, glass and thornes from the inside). They have held out good, but after 5000km's use on highways, mountains, snow, mud, stone, gravel and copplestone...they are battered.
To saythat it doesnt have an effect on the small team and motivation wouldnt be true. It takes out much of the enthusiasm to see yet another stage become shorter than expected and a fair bit of time and energy wasted.
Today was added that Sarah after yesterdays strong effort was seriously tired. Running in hills at 1200-1500m alt. didnt make it easier and the pace dropped.
But the time spent at roadside streatching & waiting gave time to take in the mountain scenery of silent pineforrest and green pastures below; and to think.
To wonder how easy we get un-satisfied..
There is sponsors who pay for the run (Ecco), who transmits & covers it (LifePilot), who hosts it (them.com), provide tents (Outdoor) and strollers (ABC-Kids) .. and a runner who shares it :-))
