Exit & Return !
A day that started w. a rain-storm (we read that it played havoc up in Istanbul..) and could have ended in Sarahs exit.
That didnt happen though; after having struggled more and more w. motivation and the deep physical fatigue that follows (its no joke to face 33 000km with low motivation) she picked up pace & determination on what we sadly had expected to be her last day in the run.
With the rain pouring down in streams and the wind picking up to storm level she suddenly took the lead and pushed her pace that had fallen to 7-8min/km last week - to a steady trot of 6min/km or 10km/h. Impressive under those conditions and pushing the stroller w. trucks swaying closely past on the highway. Most of all ofcourse the ability to pick oneself up when its most hopeless; a quality we all are in need of at one point or another in our lives :-)
The drama of the day was not over yet. At the airport exit 15km before Konya she turned off and ran towards the airport in gushes of rain and low clouds. With a wet and sad dane wawing goodbye from the rough shoulder of hwy. 715. untill the small australian figure had disappeared into the rain-mist.
Then a lone run through Konya. A 1million pers. city w. a traffic chaos to match..
Finally at the hotel. Phone rang at 8am. nxt. morning: She was still in Konya and ready to continue!
