El Pertii !
A small story of one of the many people we meet during the run:
If you've seen the pic. from todays report [LifePilot coverage, "documentor", entry 25.July] ; who is this gentleman w. Arab headband smiling to us from the supportcar ?
His name is Perrti Lassila.
Fluent in finish and swedish as many Finns are. Smiling, showering us w. "Well done !! Is there anything I can do for you ?? There Must be something :-) !!"
Pertii is our supportcar driver the next couple of days, 71 years, has had his own forresting and woodplantation company and a lot of years of marathon running and pipe smoking !
He retired from marathon running in 2002 after having done his 35. marathon (3:18pb. back in his young 50'ties :-)
During the stage we had running company all the way by Marco / "Pegasus" who made sure we were never bored or running too slow ! He might join us for an after-stage 2mile race in Helsinki about 10days down the road :-)
(We try to take part in local runs/races from time to time if they fit into our route & scedule. On sunday, in 2 days, we have our first race - a 10km run near our route, just South of Viitisari).
