A longer stage of 64km but in excellent weather :-)
The cold rain had played a bit of havoc w.the legs last fem days: Sarah reg. blisters, Reima reg. shinsplints and myself w. an acking right knee that makes itself heard in cold weather. Today, though, things were fine :-)
- the first 2-8 weeks in a run like this are usually very critical: eighter the body begins to slowly adapt to the daily stages and stress of packing and unpacking and setteling in w. a new place everyday, and it transforms from hardship to joy and a very unusual degree of freedom. Or it dont, and small injuries begin to accumulate as the body lacks behind in recovery for each day. With my slightly injured knee from the S. African 6day victory (first run injury in 20y.) I've been holding my breath since the start hoping for the old force to return as in wr1. But still 4-7 weeks remain before I can begin to put full power into the running - if, hopefully, the knee keeps progressing in positive adaptation to the challenge :-)
