Camping !
From Key West to this North Eastern corner of Usa I have not had a day of camping (if not counting the 6day race, or the night in a sleepingbag in the forrest near Boston - but that night was more "survival" than camping I'd say ;-) But finally there are areas suited for outdoor life and pleanty of camping grounds along todays stage.
I do know that in other areas of Usa there are many options for camping yet also in this aspect the East Coast route has proven far more difficult than I had expected. So this oppotunity is definately to be cherished; both as a way to get closer to nature, but certainly at this point of the run also as a chance to ease the economy of the run wich has been struggeling severely on the expensive streatch from Washington D.C. to Boston.
Still... As you can see from some of the pictures 4 months at hotels has had its influence on my 'outdoor skills' ;-) Where as Alex clearly had his outdoor-self intact from the days back in Chile then for my part I was happy to find an electrical plug near my tent - so I could power up' the computer and watch some movies in my tent !
I definately hope that I put this part of 'comfort life' behind me quickly and embrace the full experience of the nature wich should be more and more impressive and a bigger part of the run as I proceed North to more open and 'wild' areas towards the Canadian border :-)
With the running itself: The surprising amount of muscular pain/tiredness from the 3 days of heavy bagpack-running is still an issue, but atleast I did a few km's more today than yesterday. I would now expect that it will take a week or so before the recovery is complete !
NB: Trying to use camping as often as possible might mean that the reports will be a bit delayed. But I'll try to catch up on emails when we pass through cities and hopefully upload the reports. The gps-tracks will be delayed too.
