The Big Cities...
The last few days have been very intense as far as "big city running" goes: 3 days ago I ran from the centre of Wasthington D.C. and through its Northern suburbs. Yesterday I had reached Baltimore and ahead was yet another multi-million city for my support-driver, Morten, to navigate through and for me to run through without too many mistakes and detours.
- Safe to say: there were pleanty of those. But on the last half of the run through Baltimore I was lucky to have company of a local and very talented ultra-runner, David, who helped to make the big-city running 'painless' this particular time !
Still, with Philadelphia and New York City coming up in less than 1 week of running from now, it has been quite hectic. Both with logistics, catching up with old & new contacts and not least trying my hand with the micro-detail planning needed to prevent major mishaps and more back-tracking-by-running than what has already happened (which I guess is one of the most de-motivating moments for any runner, and certainly a tired world runner who wants to see the finish line sooner raughter than later ;-)
Therefore I had to give priority to the logistics and let the updates of the daily reports wait a little bit untill there were time and surplus for them, but atleast the gps-tracks are on-line now. I'll (fairly ;-) shortly upload the reports from the last three days - and they hopefully will be a little bit more focused on the impressions from the run, than this logistics-oriented report :-)
NB: The expected timeline for the next streatches of the run is:
30. March, Philadelphia.
2-4. April, New York City.
14. April, Boston.
18. April, Portland.
22-28. April, SCMT 6 Day Race, New York (restdays from world run 2).
08. May, Bangor.
15. May, The Canadian Border.
