Tomorrow - Key West, Northbound :-))
I've finally (Finally !) made it to USA after 3 years of running through Europe, the Middle-East, Africa and South America. Not least after huge diplomatic troubles the last two weeks: beeing refused entry onto Cuba for the run across the island; but after some negotiation instead granted an express 10year visa (much more than I asked for :-) for USA.
... And so I'm here ! I can say that the first impression after my arrival yesterday at Miami international airport and meeting up with my new supportdriver for the next 3months, Morten, is that the kind help from the American embassy in Bogota, Colombia was no coincidense.
Not least the support from the local running communities in mainland Florida has been outright amazing; I had not been in the USA half a day before I was offered running company on more than 50% of the distance up through Florida state, and similar offers of private accomodation after the daily runs ! AMAZING :-)
The connection and help between fellow runners is what has enabled me to run this far, along with the good back-up from my sponsors and not least that of my main financial sponsor Ecco, the supporting financial sponsor Pyroll from Finland (who goes out of their way to support and motivate the run !) and the sponsor of my supportcar in USA, LeasePlan Denmark & LeasePlan USA.
Now its up to me to honour that help and support from tomorrow and the next 5600km Northbound toward New Foundland, Canada.
The start of the last continent of world run 2 is tomorrow, 12:00 noon at the Southernmost point of USA, Key West. You can find the scedule below this report. Anyone interested is more than welcom to join me in the run along the highway 1 towards Miami !
PS: The picture-series from today shows the road-research drive we did the 350km down to Key West from Miami. From tomorrow I will return with the daily pictures from the run along with the live-gps feed (as soon as I have my american sim-card working, untill then the gps-track will be uploaded right after the stages are finished each day via the internet connection at my accomodation).
