Distance today: 30.0 km (Accumulated: 28265.0 km)
Elapsed time: 02:45:23
Country: Peru

Start 09:32am., 14c, overcast & l.wind, at city centre statue "Miguel Grau" in Chimbote city, on hwy. 1N. Finish 15:48pm., 26c, cloudy & same, at km-stone "465" on hwy.1 N.

Another short 30km stage. Nearly exactly same pace as yesterday - but the scenery quite different: mostly desert after running out of Chimbote; then a dark tunnel filled w. roaring trucks and interesting 'fumes' while running through it; then some more desert and up-hills ;-)

Best thing to say about it is that my peruvian support-driver, Wilmer, did an Outstanding Job guarding me from the heavy veichles while I ran through the tunnel by driving slowly behind me, blocking the pitch dark tunnel. Its certainly not something I expect from my support-drivers as its very dangerous also to them - but it did mean that I could actually enjoy the 'gunbarrell run' through the tunnel. A get a few pictures to give an impression of how what feel...
