Goto: 12011-06-06 12011-06-08 1Chile West

2011-06-07: Pictures6
Distance today: 30.0 km (Accumulated: 26235.0 km)
Elapsed time: 02:35:39
Country: Chile West

Start 13:40pm., 22c, cloudy and l.wind, at km-marker "255" on hwy. 1. Finish 16:43pm., 20c, overcast and same, at green km-marker "286" on hwy.1.
(As you can see the distance between the km-makers would seem to be 31km, but often they are a bit inaccurate out here at the remote parts of Chile, so I usually measure the daily distance by the gps-tracking I run with which seem much more accurate).

Customs again ??

As you probably have seen a fair bit of times now in the daily reports I have had my 'grievances' the customs in South America, which unfortunately seems to have a liking of taking the packets send from abroad for them selves instead.. ;-)

But on todays run we passed a large customs check basically in the middle of the coastal part of the Atacama desert. Strange, as there is no border in hundreds of kilometer and even more than 140km to the nearest city of any kind !

It turned out that Iquque where we went to get the car repaired yesterday in the frantic dash' to fix the gearbox and still get some running done - is a toll free zone, and thus... Customs control after exiting the larger area of Iqique.

Luckily for us, they let us keep our belongings this time ;-)
