Start 10:30am., 8c, overcast and l.wind. At yellow paintmarker "945.2" on hwy.5. Finish 14:40pm., 10c and same, at green roadsign "C-120, km 00" at cross of hwy.5 and road C120.

Reaching Chaneral and getting ready for tomorrow leaving the Panamerican Highway (highway5) for the first time in weeks - in exchange for a detour but possible shortcut through "Pan de Azucar" National Park at the Pacific coast.

On todays run along the main highway I had the thrill of meeting other long-distance travellers: an isrealean couple who are bicycling through Chile; they are doing about 60km pr day, so I hoped to perhaps try to keep up with them for a few days but they will stay on the Panamerican' so it was just a quick but interesting exhange of "slow traveller stories" as we picked our food in the first supplypoint in a couple of hundred km's; the charming city of Chaneral !
