By now struggeling with the effects of not recieving the shipment of new runningshoes and supplies which has been held/'gone' in Argentinian customs for a month. There can be problems w. customs when sending packets to some contries - I experiensed it when recieving a packet in St. Petersburg in Russia during world run one and also in Egypt during the first part of world run two.
But usually its "only" a matter of officials wanting some 'money at the side' or taking a few samples of the packet for themselves. Not pleasant ofcourse, but still a fair way from the Argentinian experiense - taking the entire package; end of story. It has a fairly bad taste to it, witnessing this kind of 'government' and while I can see that they can have use of the shoes and running clothes for themselves, then its less obvious what joy they can have of the gifts from home; a travelbook from a running friend etc..
Well. The nature here is beautifull and is still to be highly appreciated ! And also i have to say that I have a part in the situation: As always I kept a few pairs of running shoes in reserve if worst case scenarios should occour (as I do with food, water etc. supplies as well). But when I got the news that the packed has arrived well in Bournes Aires and only had to travel the last bit out to me, I choose to give two pairs of shoes as a gift to locals who had been very helpfull when we needed to repair the supportcar. My mistake. But friendship and help is still a thing to be appreciated and rewarded. And those qualities are ofcourse also in Argentina ! :-)
... But its a pity w. the legs though, as injuries has begun now ;-)
