Technicalities.. !
As mentioned yesterday, I was checking an irregularity w. the gps. It turned out to be quite a little technical riddle - which I havent fully found the solution to yet:
As part of my documentation of the run I use the Endomondo gps-tracking system, which logs & publicly displays each km of the daily run from start to finish, w. precise distance, total time, all km split-times and altitude profile as well as the geographical coordinates.
(This goes along w. the daily logbook of the run, the gps-coded pictures & Jamies video documentary).
However as I looked through the data after the 41km run yesterday, I immideately noticed that something was quite wrong:
From 26km to 31km it showed the following km-splits, in min/km:
.. 9:49min (5min stop while drinking water 1km normal pace) -
5:39 - 5:54 - 2:27 - 4:59 - 3:46 .. Followed by my lunch break.
While the rest is normal, the 3:46 split is unusually fast and the 2:27 is downright impossible !
It means a pace of 25km/hour for that km - which is simply Faster than I can run ! My fastest time ever on 1km is 2:59 (done 4days after I set my pb. on 100km, 6:58h., in 2000.). And while this is also a few days after my 100km stage, it just cant be possible. Yet the distance match the roadside km-markers !! ..
