Runner ok, car not ok !
- Sometimes the drama, challenge or difficulty of the run doesnt come from the daily mental (and sometimes physical..) wrestle with the endless distance ahead, which currently is about 19 000km; but instead comes from trying to solve the practical obstacles that comes with "across the world"running. Often w. surprising help :-)
Today became one of those days !!
The run was easy and very enjoyable, taking in the views of the new horizon since I yesterday turned inland/West after reaching my last city on the East coast of S. America.
Afterwards, getting in the supportcar to drive the 85km to our base in San Antonio del Oeste: 20km was all the car offered before it began to overheat. The strong smell of burnt engineoil & a clicking sound from the motorblock gave us a clue: the gasked was probably blown and water was coming into the engine itself.
10km later it was finally unable to continue. Left at roadside in the huge landscape we were Very lucky to first have a truck stop to help us determine the problem - and 10min. later to have theFortune of getting towing assistance by Nestor & Alinka, from Argentina & Russia :-)
They not only towed us 50km but helped us all afternoon. WOW !!!
