Peninsula Valdes - a short run & a long drive..
For a change the running was not in focus today: our plans were to see the World Heritage site "Peninsula Valdes" - approx. 150kms drive East of my finish point. And since most of it beeing on deep-gravel roads it was a matter of getting the drive done early in the day if we wanted a hope to get a glimse of what makes it a world heritage site: some of S. Americas largest concentrations of sealions, seals, penguins, dolphins, whales and if in luck; also orcas ("killer whales") feeding on the huge colonies of prey when almost beaching themselves at high tide to reach the colonies.
- What we did see, you can find on todays pictures which should be uploaded soon !
.. As it happened, to me the highlight became quite another animal which prooved to be curious to the degree where it got close enough to have a bite of my good ecco running shoes. What animal it is, you can also see at the pictures ! :-)
Before nearly becoming a part of the foodchain my ecco "biom b" shoes were used for todays short but quick stage: 10km in 39min. (and I wont mention the slight sting in the heart coming from the fact that I already in 1985/15yo. old ran 35:00min and now is 4min slower at max speed. Ouch.. But thats what a decade of ultrarunning does to you ! ;-))
