Trelew; up-scale & down scale..
Todays run through Trelew city, originally a more than 100y. old Welsh settlement, definately was a downscale in kilometres from yesterdays hot 62km stage.
But also compared to the previous, few, experienses of South American cities along my route - it was quite another view: a display of the raw contrast between welth & powerty; betweenpolitical promises and realities (see election poster "2011" & the scenery behind it, in todays pic.s which this time tries to give a taste of Argentinas rough side); between having water enough to 'sprinckle the roses' and barely hanging on; between the scolding hot semi-desert sourrounding Trelew and the brief oasis of shade, supermarkets and upscale living - untill it quickly becomes a matter of "sticking it out the next couple of hundred km" untill the next spot where the huge open pampas has been tamed..
Nb: For my part I have to admit I choose the "upscale" option this time after 5days of sweating myself to sleep in the expedption tent: two nights at Trelews best hotel, a chocking contrast of 4-star luxury compared to my half-star tent - which, though, has all the stars of our Milky Way galaxy above it each night.. :-)
