St. Julien of 6143 people has a fascinating history. But this report is dedicated to Jurgen Ankenbrand !
Jurgen was my crew in California & later on in New York, in wr 1.
A cheerfull german living the past 20y. at Huntington Beach, usa. Two y. ago he was hit by a car during a run.
As far as I can estimate far beyond 200 000 people are killed every year, for no other reason than our feeling of need
to move quickly.
The amount of animals -beyond count. Often my first impression of the animals as I run across the continents are via the daily display of those killed at roadside. Yesterday: a beautifull falcon, a large eagle, 5-10 small rabbits, 2 guanacos eyes still fresh and open perhaps with last impressions of human speed, a sheep, 2 brightly bl.&white fured skunks, a seagull, and a few red packs of meat who could be any small animal.
What i least understand is how we feel we have the right or knowledge to consider ourselves more valuable than other life.
Most organisms contribute more positively to our planet than we as modern people do !
Could we as humans be more like them in our impact on the planet, that would be true Progress :- )
ps: Sorry for the oppinions ! I do know we all do our best; only it seems our highest priority end up beeing "comfort".
Jurgen was killed by a hit&run driver.
