Start 09:18am. at km-stone \"Maputo 520km\" 3km S. of Massinga, on the EN1-hwy to Maputo. 26c, humid, o.c. and l. wind. Finish14:18pm. At tarmac-marker, white paint, \"25.100\", ca. 25km N. of Maxixe city, on the EN1-hwy to Maputo. 27c, and same after heavy rain.
(Nb: the stopwatch took in water in the monsoon rain and was unreadable after the stage. Time is /- 10min.).
Running Christmas calender, day 1:
- In world run 1 there was a Christmas calender (while running towards the Australian Nullabor Desert, December 2004), and also here in wr2 during the first Christmas of this run; jogging through Syria & Jordan towards an odd New Years Eve in the Sinai Desert :-) Both times I decided to make it an advice pr. day reg. how to prevent injury - As that is a Cornerstone in doing runs like these.
.. But its getting a bit \'old\' by now and since Im not in a desert this Christmas;-) I will try to change the content of the calender: One reason a day to Enjoy running. Wether its interesting or not I cant predict but I Hope it canperhaps bring motivation on those dark december days home in Scandinavia or any other place :-)
Of all ways of movement there is a sence of Freedom when running. Perhaps not the first day or month when you have just taken up running. But inch by inch running becomes a wonderfull way of Movementas your body and mind begins to develop capacity. I think this has nothing to do with wether you are a world class runner or enjoy a jogg two or three times a week !
.. Its the nature of Running
The same way a motorcyclist would perhaps feel trapped in a car. Or a bird encaged in an airplane instead of its own freedom of unlimited motion !
Its a freedom you can explain but to Understand what it is: You have to be a runner yourself; floating free over asfalt, silent paths in the deep woods or over soft grass. Reguardless if its 10min. or across the world a 2. time :-)
