Hands.. - once again !!
For some reason I both in wr2 and wr1 get injuries to hands & arms raughter than the legs (!).
Ofcourse its a very lucky 'oddity' - wich had me puzzled in wr1 where both my very experiensed Russian and Japanese co-runners got severe and eventually fatal leg/run injuries during the 7000km streatch of running straight across Siberia on difficult roads & conditions.
For my part the legs took the challenge well but a daily struggle to keep the hands injury-free after falling on the stone roads when tired (or when busy tapping in the daily reports on the phone while running instead of watching the roads ! ;-).
The same thing has happened in wr2. Even w. a small operation in Dar Es Salaam to treat deep infection in the r. arm.
Today I was again doing the bad habit of writing on the phone while running, only to suddenly find myself hands and face down on the hard shoulder (and it was hard): deep woundst to left hand in two places, long skinscratch along the arm and smaller holes in right hand. Prob. is that they this time sit right in the palm and renders especially left hand useless for a while even though I removed stones & gravel from the wounds and instantly rinsed.
- Its small things, but had I been alone it could have posed a huge problem as opening food cans, setting tent, washing clothes etc. isnt possible at the moment.
Luckythat I have my good team of Reino (Finland) and Louiz (Mozambique). THANK YOU - Or..
KIITOS & OBLIGADO !!! :-))
