Start 08:31am., at "Kothy" village sign, S. end of village, 1km before km-marker 380 on the main rd. from Addis Abeba to Moyale/Kenya. 18c, half overc. and l. wind. Finish 13:30pm., at km-marker 420 on the main rd. from Addis Abeba to Moyale/Kenya. 21c, rain and same.
Finally a day where there were a hint of the old strength in the legs !
- The first 21km went in 1:36h. (not v. fast I know, much faster than in a long while :-)
.. Then a 4km uphillsection came w. a alt. climb from 1823m to
2324m. That put the pace at a more reasonable level for the rest of the stage.
During the stage I had company for 15km by an ethiopian runner. Usually kids run along in the villages everyday but this was the first runner w. runningshoes - says something ab. the poverty, I think !
He stopped on the uphill mentioned above.
By the way we have entered yet another region in ethiopia; and thus another language (there are more than 40 in total !).
Here I am greeted w. "Asha Masha !!" insted of Salaam, as hello.
"Worthu Worthu !" is the sportsman greeting and apparently means something like Strength, Strength !
"Ogongo" - run !
