Great company on the run !
It looks like the local people are more friendly towards forreigners here in the areas South of Addis Abeba. And that makes a Huge difference :-)
As those who have followed the reports on wr1 and wr2 will know its usually a great Pleasure to run across the continents and experiense each step and nuance' of the cultures. But; also familiar, I guess, is that its been an awfull experiense to meet the unfriendly attitude of Ethiopia (including stonethrowing and virtually all other ways to make it unpleasant to be in the contry). Sad when you come in friendship and sport to this contry of runners !
But - the more pleasant when you begin to get positive responses on the daily hours jogging along the roads of this strange part of Africa :-)
The NATURE, though, is allways a treat. The last weeks reports wich I hope to be able to upload here from a dusty internet cafe in Shashema tomorrow (its not possible to send them from the road by mobile phone sms/txt in this part of ethiopia; thus the long delays) - hopefully they will give a few examples.. Camping at crystal clear lakes, pitching the tents next to flamingos and pelicans. With ancient volcanoes in the background !
WHAT A TREAT :-)
And what a JOY to get support from runners afar (I got an email from Sarah who ran 7000km with me through Europa. She just took 2. place in the 10day race in New York City - after having taken 1.place overall in the South African 6day race a few weeks earlier. !!!. !!!. !!! :-) Mentioning greetings from far better runners than I. Wolfgang Schwerk, Vlastimil Dworacheck and Arun Bhardwai just to mention a few ! And others via sms like Petr Spacil :-) And... My girlfriend :-))) - I wish I could reply, but that is not possible w. the ethiopian mobile network. ITS an honour that they and indeed all interested runners still follows the run and I hope to be able to pun in an effort to show my GRATITUDE for their support :-) But so far the fever and surviving between the running takes a little daily toll ;-)
