Third waiting-day in Khartoum due to expected political instability.
A diplomatic run :-)
Today the verdict from ICC, the International Criminal Court, was announced reg. further procedures against Sudans president, on grounds of accusations of human rights violations and genocide
It was a priveleague of the better I have experiensed as a political scientist: to share the tense moments when the decition was read aloud - watching bbc live from the court on the bigscreen-tv in the calm and airconditioned livingroom of my host, Line.
She works w. humanitarian affairs at the embassy ! Very interesting to hear the reaction and analysis, as well as of theother person present; Anne Marie who is the ambassador/chief at the embassy here in Sudan
The embassy had been cleared of all personnel 1hour prior. For everyone the verdict could have consequenses, both security & field of work options. For my part, wether and when I could continue the world run 2 !
But it was not all cynical politics; in the morning Line & I had an enjoyable jogg while it was still adviced for westerners to be on the streets. She does negative splits in her training !
Ps: The verdict was a clear arrest ordre and minutes after the first whistles and yells came from down the road.
