Elapsed time: 05:26:09
Country: Africa

Start 08:39am at police checkpoint/green sign in arab, 100m after km-marker 297. 16c, clear and l. wind. Finish 15:12pm at km-marker 243 to Khartoum. 39c and same.

An undramatic run along the fascinating scenery of another desert streatch. It always changes, and no piece of desert is quite like the previous or the next (contrary to what I'd have expected as a Northern contry citizen where a desert is just "a desert" :-)
Rocky streatches changes into soft sanddunes and series of towering cliffs w. occational 'mountains' as in the Nubian desert or in the Sinai. The texture of the sand, small subtle differences. Or as now: the colour, from light yellow & brown to deep orange.
- Except when the scenery disseappears in a sand storm like again today and the horizon moves in as a brown-yellow fence.

But today was not all desert; it ended in Khartoum to where I was extracted by firm advice by the danish embassy and foreign ministry. They have allready been of great help to me throughout the run across the Middle-East so I ceartainly listen to their advice :-)

( For insight on the background see for example www.sudantribune.com/spip.php?article30315 )

I will remain in Khartoum untill adviced to proceed from where I stopped, 243km North of the city. Most likely a week, where I can work on logistics for E. Africa - urgent needed - and how to find a solution to buy/rent/lend a car for E. Africa; wich is my big head acke !!! I have the driver.

Meanwhile I run in circles :-)
