Start 07:55am., at "Police Checkpoint K40" on rd. 28 to Qena, ca. 43km E. of Qena. 16c, clear and no wind. Finish 12:49pm., at Al El Beit Hotel in central Qena. 35c, l. wind and same.

Out of the desert !

- had a nice long downhill run last 40km and there it suddenly were after 4days in the orange & brown of the sand and cliffs:
Qena, A City !
With food, places to stay, smells, sounds, people !! The Nile river nearby, a morehumid but cooler climate after the 40c yesterday.

After the stage; sitting at the balcony at a small local hotel in a narrow street next to the Mosque.The sun is sinking, the air thick w. intense arab music. The main Friday-prayer starting. Voices and laughter from the street below..
My table is set w.local oranges, bananas, different kinds of dades, apple, cucumber and freshbaked bread (see live pic.).

- Very pleased I didnt give up those difficultand tough days (it was close !!).
