Sinai - at last :-)
After 3 days of delays the run into the Sinai desert begins !
... With a 20km uphill, as the Sinai cliffs of its mostly rock-desert rise about 800m from sealevel w. a few peaks of 2000 meters in the Southern part; among them biblical Mount Sinai.
Just after having run up and marveled at the allmost floor-flat terrain above the climb I heard a call from one of the few cars that pass on the empty desert road: it was a family from the danish embassy in Cairo !
How nice - and strange - to suddenly meet people from back home and to hear the Scandinavian language that I slowly, as in world run one, becomes more and more hesitant in..
By the way I have had HUGE support by the Cairo embassy since months back where in particular Dorte of cultural relations has done an amazing job of getting the 48hour race in Cairo from idea/dream into reality :-) THANKS !!
I along w. a Czeck, 2 Slovak, a fellow danish runner and local Egyptian runners look forward to experiencing the race the 7. January and 48hours forward in time.. :-)
