2008-11-07:Distance today: 44.0 km (Accumulated: 6192.0 km)
Elapsed time: 04:39:42
Country: Middle East
Start 08:53am., at hotel Elite. 13c, allmost overcast and l. wind. Finish 16:07pm. At hotel Hannibal in Gebze city. 24c, allm. clear and same.
Legs still tired and heavy so another stage at slow pace. However the sourroundings makes up for much of that - today we entered theKocaeli province and thus the "Baghdad road", following the same way as caravans for thousands of years. Including a great palm-shaded streach along thecoast.
Our finish city Gebze is the resting place of Hannibal the Conqurer who died here after the defeat at Carthagia.
Gebze's main palaces was builtby the vizier of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent; and set a perfect background to the bazar wich I visited in the sunset.
