We returned to the cottage last night after the running and so my conversation w. Kay continued:
With Finns there is seldom much smalltalk - or "mocking around" as Sarah would put it in Australian.
We went directly to discuss the aims of society in general: to persue happiness, growth, or both;. Group/common values or individual values; or both. Trying to define happiness - is difficult - but since philosophy is such a thrill, just thinking ab. the question makes me happy :-)
- And it returns me to his question when we first met:
Do you have an answer to why you are running ?
The standard answer beeing the attempt at the first North-South Run, world record of the longest documented run (now 26 232km), longest non-stop run (now 21 000km) and longest female run (now 15 500km). Besides the first team run - sharing a record is more than having it yourself :-)
Sarah: meditation by running and selftrancendance is major parts. As are cultural and nature experience and understanding for both of us !
To me filosophy, is a big part of why I run once more. Traditional philosophy distinguishes between the mind and the body as two seperate things. To me wr 1 & two is 'thinking with the whole body' reg. the essence of the world and our life. Wich makes sence to me.
But first and last the Joy of running :-)
