... Fuel-crisis ;-)
Normally we keep a keen eye on the state of the car - learning from the many breakdowns of the supportcars in South America (...) - but I suppose the tiredness from yesterdays long stage had removed the cautious approach. Atleast both my good support-driver Alex and myself maneaged to overlook that we were nearly out of fuel ! Not so good since the only petrolstation we had seen was some 80km's up the road.
Once Reino and I had begun the first km's of the stage Alex therefore headed in the opposite direction after a car we waved down had assured up that it was only a short drive to a local gasstation.
... 1hour and some steep hills of running later and neighter Reino or me saw any car. Its safe to say that we begun wondering what had happened, if Alex and the car was alright - and wether we would see water and energydrinks anytime in the near future ;-) With those 80km's to the next city and our hotel - the prospect wanst too good in case the car had broken down. And with little to no cellphone coverage out here in the low mountains there was not much chance of getting in contact w. Alex.
Luckily he finally showed up. The term "near" had turned out the have a different meaning in Canadian language; and the drive therefore much longer than any of us had expected ;-)
NB: The few missing reports in July should be uploaded and in place now. Sorry for the delay !
