Fascinating run out of Central Park and Manhattan, through Harlem and proper on my way to the northern naiborhoods.
It wasnt without a bit of drama, though. It took only a few km's and then my new support-driver, Andrew from Virginia, and I had lost track of eachother in the dense, hectic and piled-up' traffic. To add to the commotion I maneaged to fall (almost right on my face ;-) while trying to call Andrew on my cellphone - still running ofcourse - to find out where he were.
... I think there is a poem wich goes: "Dont fall in New York, no one is going to be there to pick you up" ! That was not the case in Harlem. Immideately a few people offered their help, also with finding the different pieces of the cellphone wich were well spread across pavement and road ;-)
Now that's one agains the stereo-types :-)) It turned out to be a not-unpleasant naighbourhood to run in; as the case has been in most of the coloured areas I have run through on my way up along the East Cost. Often more friendly than the 'upscale' areas in this part of the contry !
