The joys of bypassing the Interstate...
Ahead of me today I had the choice of following the Highway 17 wich after a few miles joined the Interstate 95, or, running out on the rural roads of South Carolina following the "Old Possum Road" most of the time.
- The first would be illegal as Im not allowed to run on the Interstate highways where its strictly enforced that only motor weichles go. The other... would be a fairly long detour as the rural roads takes quite a few turns and twists to get to the same places where the newer highways and interstates cuts directly to.
The choice ended up beeing the legal one: The Old Possum Road :-)
And after I had come to terms with that it would be nearly 50% longer than the highway route, I could enjoy some calm sceneries of a very laid-back part of USA; quiet farmlands, some swamps, overgrown forrests and friendly-but-slightly-surprised locals as I ran by.
Not at all a bad day !
