Stunning nature & stinging' insects !
...And a few falling rocks. As I hope you can get an impression of from the pictures, the nature here in Northern Colombia is amazing w. a lot of variety and beautifull views over long quiet green valleys below the winding road. Not many tourists, or any other travlellers for that matter seems to make it to this corner of the world. But the more rewarding it is to take in the calm scenarios step by step. Or atleast quiet scenarios untill the rocks start tumbling down from the mountains and onto the narrow road - as you can see from the front page foto. Yet even that adds a thrill to this strange wonder-land.
The same cant be said reg. experiensing the insect life. As with the 'hotelroom w. a scorpion' yesterday, also today had its more than fair share of insects. They appear to come in all sizes and shapes; small and large, colourfull and full of restless energy trying to search through our belongings (especially food ;-) as well as ourselves throughout most of the tropical night. Not much sleep; but a lot of getting to know the different kinds of insects.
The run, though, went surprisingly well after last night's lack of sleep. Reino put in an excellent effort and did a smooth 45km's in the undulating terrain. For my part the support from Wilmer (my supportdriver from Peru) and Reino from Finland meant that another 50km stage was done :-)) Its obvious that the surplus to focus on the running itself has increased since Reino arrived - bringing a calm to the run, taking care of the main logistics and finances. And despite the insects, which I am not a huge fan of, then at present the run is intensely enjoyable and the appetite for the road & run ahead hasnt been this big in a long time ! Not that I havent been motivated before; but the run is on its 3.year now and requires a constant effort to stay focused for each km and each day. A big THANK YOU to both Reino and Wilmer for their support and part in the run as well as the supporters abroad !!

NB:
The reports & pictures will be uploaded with a delay as we have been running in v. remote areas of Northern Colombia without internet access. As this report is put online we have set up base in Popayan city which we reached after a night-drive in torrentuous downpour w. parts of the mountain road washed away. We'll see how it goes finding back to the route.
