Start 09:30am., 10c, overcast & light wind, at red shopsign "Punto" on Ave. Americana in Cuenca city. Finish 11:51am., 25c & same, at white roadsign "Rio Cuenca" on E35 to Riobamba.

...On todays short run I had had enough after just 10km !

A paradox in such a fascinating contry as Equador is. But nevertheless; the pollution which I saw when running through Cuenca city and afterwards on the highway northbound - is some of the worst I can recollect ever having run through. Perhaps like the dense exhaustfumes & chemical mist when running through Japan's industrial centers during world run one in 2004. But its especially touching when its in a contry with such biodiversity as Equador. Simply deeply sad so see. And ofcourse not good for the lungs eighter - both throat and nostrils sore after just 1 hour of running in this.

I sincerely hope Equador has focus on how the pollution is affecting this Unique contry. Eventhough I know very well that its easy for me to say; harder to do something about !

I will upload some pictures from the stage later to give an idea. At the moment too depressing looking at the photo's and seeing a contry with such natural richness playing havoc' with it.
