:-) !
After the somewhat shocking fever-experience the last 24hours it was refreshing in more than one sence to be back out on the road, enjoying the terrain and running ! For sure it wasnt fast - there was still some light fever left but nothing like the inner 'sauna' which kept me wondering about the road ahead throughout yesterday night, so I took it slow; and took time to meet with a journalist from Peruvian tv who followed along during the run. After 16km the temperature in the body was getting suspeciously close to "red" so we decided to make a stop at a shaded local roadside cafe in a tiny village, do an interview and have a look at the archeological findings from the pre-inca period (ca. 500-300bc.) which were on display at the restaurant and which the owner had found in the nearby fields - see photo's.
It was a very wellcome distraction from the worry about the fever, and luckily by the end of the day there was only little left of yet another 'tropical disease drama' on the world run 2..
Ofcourse; there are upsides and downsides: Instead my enthusiastic supportdriver Pali from the Slovak Republic was about to enter into the same experiense - strong stomack pains and fever. Atleast we now have the relevant medicine and hopefully it will be less of an ordeal. If all goes right we should pick up Sarah from Australia at Lima airport tomorrow hwo is sceduled to run the next 1000km together with me :-)
But, this requires we can make the 380km pick-up drive tomorrow and return to the route the next day !
