Making the best of time..

As noted in yesterdays report I have once again encountered trouble when dealing with borders and officials in South America. First of all I must say that the nature and the people are a very nice experiense - as in almost every contry and continent I have run across :-)

But authorities in South America, I am now beginning to realize; is quite another story. Where I have been fortunate to have amazing support by also the official side in nearly all contries I have run through, then its almost like the opposite is the case here. Unpleasant, but, since I dont approve of corruption - I'd raughter take the time it takes to find a solution, than to 'take to the wallet'. When obeying corrupt authorities, one only encourages this sad behaviour.

Tomorrow my good american supportdriver, Alex, and I will try another solution: To drive into Peru via Bolivia - For unclear reasons its not forbidden to take the car across the border to Bolivia; and from there is shouldnt be a problem to take it into Peru; from where we a'la Kafka' then hope to drive to the other side of the Chile - Peru border, via a 700km detour twice over the Andes Mountains.

Obstacles - Yes, Solutions - Hopefully :-)
