Airport-camping !

After the interesting run out through Antofagasta, witnessing again the contrast of the rich high-rise centre of the major Chilean cities and their quite poor 'alumium shed villages' in the suburbs, I set camp at what turned out to be an area by a military airbase.

The evening consisted of in turn: intense desert silence, then squadrons of jetairplanes coming in low for landing or fly-by of the airfield, then once again the big silence - only to be replaced 10-20minutes later by another thunder of jetfighters a few hundred meters over the desert sand. Quite interesting :-)
