Start 08:50am., 8c, cloudy/light mist and no wind, at small yellow km-marker "1064.020" on hwy.5. Finsh 12:28, 11c, almost clear and l.wind, at green roadsign "Antofagasta 277km" at cross of hwy.5 and hwy1.

As soon as the dense morning mist which has proven to be typical of the Atacama Desert we began to pack our tents and then commence with the battle of yesterday evening: to make the supportcar start so we could get back down from the mountainrange and to the spot where I finish yesterdays run (ofcourse the run each day have to begin at the exact spot where it ended the day before - which is why I use gps and finish-location pictures each day of the run).

After a very tense half hour, trying to start the supportcar, begging it to start, poking it various places where we imagined it would help it wake up and finally pushing it down the little mountain slope - it started by itself (after nearly causing an outbreak of 'viking temper' for my part as it got stuck in soft sand, not starting when we pushed it downhill.. ;-)

After the stage we head for the next city: Taltal, to see if there is any mechanical expertice to find. But chances are that it will have to wait untill I have run the approx. 300km to Antofagasta. We will have to hope the best untill than and focus on enjoying the outstanding scenery !
