The long and the short Run :-)

As I ran the short stage along the beachfront of La Serena I got surprised by suddenly seeing a huge flock of Chilean schoolchildren running the same direction ! It turned out that the city had a "childrens marathon" and thus there were hundreds of children sharing my road for 5-7km :-)

The distances might seem diffrent; the 40 000km of the world run two - and the 5 to 10km of the youth race in La Serena. Not as different though: in many ways running my first long distance runs also as a schoolboy back in the 1980'ties were far more challenging than my runs around the world !
Why ? Because as you gain more and more knowledge of the body and its capacity to grow you begin to understand that its the "beginnings" which are difficult - not the distance or time itself :-)
