First tenting day

As you can see we first got started on todays stage late in the afternoon. After packing our supplies for the next 6-8days of running to Rio Gallagos, on the Argentinian side of the border; Jamie & I were faced w. the surprise that the road out of P. Arenas was apparently closed for traffic due to protests/? reg. the gas & fuel situation -we have seen ques & shortages at gasstations and will try to carry extra supplies ourselves.
To make good use of the time we made sure to pack the car as efficiently as possible, secure the roofboxes properly & go over our equiptment once more.

When finally on the road it was a pleasure: I had perfect tailwind on most of the stage, where it was pushing me gently across the huge open plains and occational small hills into the endless horizon.

I saw a few nandus (emu-like birds), foxes, flocks of low flying geese and ofcourse numerous packs of sheep at the fenced in "Estacios".

As I ran across the low plains I noticed that the traffic near P. Arenas had been so freqvent the first days of the run, that I hadnt heard the sounds of the plains themselves:
-A low brushing sound of the wind in the short grass from miles and miles away. As the wispering of the pampas, tales of the great historic explorers, on far greater adventures than mine :-)
