Arrived in Punta Arenas !
After a quite eventfull travel (re-routed to Bournes Aires and luggage lost) I arrived near midnight 28.December at Punta Arenas.
The good news was that my supportdriver and cameraman, Jamie Fullbrook from england, was already there to pick me up at the small local airport there at the tip of the South American continent.
He had driven the more than 3000km from Santiago in Chile where he has bourght my supportcar, an old Ford Explorer 4wd, across the Andesmountains and very remote plains of Argentina to meet up. A very valuable help during the next year's run through South America, South - To North.
Reg. the luggage then I hope to recover it before the start by 1.January. It contains the expedition-tent, sleepingbag and shoes for the 12 000km of running through South America. I had the unluck of flying with SAS the first streatch which has twice before this year put me a bit late for connecting flights etc. But apart from this problem things are good and I plan to start in two days, with or without luggage !
- In my handluggage I had stored a few extra Ecco Biom running shoes as well as all other essential things; the Nokia phones, the Newline running clothes and electronic equiptment for documenting the run.
So we should be fine and will find a way to maneage, with or without luggage; after all spirit is in life more important than luggage :-)
... Now we drive out to find the Southernmost accessible point on the continent where I'll start running from on saturday; it should be some 50-70km from Punta Arenas down the rugged coast.
